My 30$ wallets seem to last about 4 or so years and then start to fall apart. I’m willing to spend some more If I can find something that will last for 10+ years. Ideas? Looking for a plain brown bifold or trifold.

I changed my ways about 5 years ago to a money clip and haven’t looked back. It forces me to NOT carry a bunch of BS and it’s secure in my front pocket. Mine’s an all metal Gerber clip. It holds my driver’s license, debit card, insurance card, DOT card, and a few $50 bills in a pretty tight neat package.

I know you asked about a traditional wallet, but the ridge wallet changed how I carry my cards and license. Much more secure in your front pocket and not sitting on a big lump in the vehicle causing back pain.

Not a wallet but I’m a huge fan of the phone cases that have the slot to carry a card or two. Under the case itself I stick my fishing/hunting licenses, drivers license and some cash just incase. I’ve tried the wallet thing but it seems like I always am forgetting it in the pants I wore the day before or whatever. I know I’ll always have my phone. Works good for me.

Moved to a Timberland Pro this last year, so far so good, a nice wallet that does not cost $ 100.00 …

I had a stingray wallet that I picked up in Mexico for a song and a dance, had it ten years and it barely showed ware. After getting divorced I threw it away.
For the last 3 years have a croc, holding up like steel so far but I can’t remember what I paid for it.
I too have emptied out what I carry. No more Costanza, not needed.
2 CC’s, DL, Health insurance card and Fishing Lic. That’s it.
    Money clip with tab money.
It’s been working well for me.

I got a Ridge knockoff several years ago and will never go back. Holds several coils of 20’s and a ton of cards. It also has RFID blocker built in so people cannot bump into you and scan your cards. The cards do tend to get a bit more beat up, but I use my card for everything so that contributes as well. Paid around $30 off Amazon.

I just pulled my wallet out to see what all I had in it that could go to trash. There was a fishing license neatly folded up from 2000 and another from 2020. Then there was my donation card from May Clinic’s blood donor program, last donation was apheresis [platelet donation] in 2007.

In 1995 my then 12 year old daughter was stricken with a weird auto-immune disease. At the time Mayo had seen exactly one other such case in a pre-teen patient as the disease usually a geriatric one. She was hospitalized for a couple months and when release was receiving immune globulin infusions twice a month. I switched from whole blood donations to the apheresis donations to help put back what she was receiving. I could donate the platelets every 8 days. 4 hours each time in to strip the platelets from the blood then return the unused portion of the blood back to me. When I began this, they had a needle in each arm. They adopted a 4 needle in one midway through the span of years I did this type of donation. When my daughter was no longer getting globulin after 4 years, I kept donating since I have a blood type of O-neg, not common, but could be used by anyone with a neg blood type. I’d had all of the usual childhood illnesses and natural immunity to them which was preferred then for cancer patients getting blood component. Basically all of my platelets went to pediatric oncology until a had a slight stroke and was placed on blood thinners.

Finding that old card sure brought back some memories so thanks for this thread. The wallet might need replacing in a couple years but for now its still serviceable, but I did toss a few things.

Do you guys with the ridge wallet carry your fishing/hunting licenses in it along with your credit cards?

Yes. I have them in one of the card protector sleeves that credit/debit card can be put in. I then sandwich that between a couple of lesser used cards.

Clip your license on the money clip. I never have cash anyway. Fishing license is on the phone.

I don’t. I have a separate bag I carry with me whenever I am hunting/fishing that holds licenses and a few other things. I do have my license on my phone in the odd event I don’t have my carry bag with me.

I have been using the same model tri-fold for approx. 40 years but they don’t make it anymore so Ill need to pick something else. Im sticking with a classic leather wallet for the storage space and I like them them to be compartmentalized.
