Best style hook for wacky worms?

Stocking up on hooks Usually use EWG 3/0 or 4/0 hooks. Found some straight shank hooks for neko rigging would these work as well or also found what look to me like small beak hooks that are for wacky worms. I’m used to the large hooks will these others be a better idea?

wacky rig hooks are designed for wacky rigging (obvious statement award). Generally wacky rigging is a bit more of a finesse technique so using the smaller wacky rig style hook as opposed to your EWG hooks may result in a few more bites with the smaller profile.

I also like the wacky rig hooks because the smaller gage hooks penetrate fish’s mouths easier requiring less of a hookset, which is generally good when using spinning gear (what I throw a wacky rig on).

It all depends on how you are fishing a wacky rigged worm. That’s how I do it.

Thanks for the advice sounds like I need to switch. Any Wacky worm size hook to look for 1/0?

I only use 1/0 hooks for wacky rigs. My favorite is is small wide gap hooks. They are my #1

The 1/0 Berkeley fusion 19’s are scary sharp! Actually all of the fusion 19 hooks are amazing.

Gamakatsu Wide Gap Finesse Hook Weedless; you can get them with and without the weed guard.

This is what I use, usually without the weed guard.

I assume you are looking at throwing weightless wacky worms…

If so, I think I tried them all through trial and error – and some are definitely better than others. For me, I’ve had best results by far with the VMC Neko hook (either weedless or not depending on cover) in size #2 (not 2/0). The Neko hook has a bit longer shank and sharp/thinner hook that results in a very high hook up and (more important) landing percentage. Thin, but have never bent one out either. The slightly longer shank also seems to avoid gut hooking the fish and almost always hooks them in the roof of the mouth for easy removal.

I save the EWG hooks for when throwing weightless Senkos Texas-rigged. They work best for that IMO.

Ditto. I also use them with large minnows river fishing. They work great for that.

Used to use the VMC wacky hook. Fryer turned me onto the Neko hooks instead. Will continue to use those from now on.

I’ve had good luck with both wacky hooks and neko hooks.. Towards the end of the summer I was solely using the #2 vmc neko hooks like mentioned above. They worked and easy to switch between weightless wacky rig and a neko rig (just add a nail weight)

Which ever you go with, check out the Arsenal neko-wacky pliers and the silicone tubes. much better than O rings IMO.
