Looking for opinions on the best spring bobbers. Obviously looking for super light bite detection, ability to not ice up, stability in high wind, and ease to connect to a rod and stay connected! I tried the rapala titanium spring bobbers and wasnt super impressed. My line kept getting stuck up in the connector, the actual spring kept pulling out from the connector and there was a lot of movement in the wind. Im not looking to get a noodle rod either.

My absolute favorite is the St Croix because its adjustable and you can buy different sensitivities. Thron Bros makes a great one and they will add it to your rod looks factory. Have them both and they are great.

January 6, 2020 at 7:59 am #1903820JT outdoors makes the best spring bobber I have seen. Their spring bobber tappers unlike any other one I have seen. They also use a metal that is not affected by extreme cold. But they will not just sell their spring bobber by itself. You can buy Thorne Brothers spring bobber by itself and add it to any rod.
January 6, 2020 at 9:25 am #1903841This is what is on every winter panfish rod I own and has been for as long as I can remember. Im sure its outdated and unpopular. It freezes up easy and fast. I’ll never use anything else because Im old, stuck in my ways and still believe it works as good or better than anything else on the market.

By obtaining different sizes (gauges) of wire you can make spring bobbers that are as sensitive as you want.
Good luck!!

January 6, 2020 at 1:50 pm #1903899The Nitinol Spring bobbers by clam are by the by FAR the best that I have found. I don’t attach them with the piece that it comes with. I superglue and then thread wrap them to the rod. The Nitinol material if the best. You can bend it all the way over and leave it stored that way and it will return right back to the original straightness when you are ready to fish. They sell them in various sensitivity levels. Before gluing and wrapping them – Make sure Play around with the placement to get the amount of bend to the spring you want for the jig size you plan to fish with. I like mine to have about a 1/4 bend in while I’m fishing. You want enough bend in it so you can notice the upbite strikes you often get. Here is a link if it works

Thin wire that loops around.
Slide the little bead back and you can slip almost anything out without having to cut and retie.
I attach them to my rod with spade electric connections.
That way I can change stiffness without retieingSylvanboatPosts: 990lee rayPosts: 9January 7, 2020 at 7:34 am #1904032Teeter pigs by Gus Pietila at Maple Ridge bait shop in Bergland Mi on Lake Gogebic are hands down the best.
January 7, 2020 at 8:11 am #1904039In case you’re interested in some St. Croix spring bobbers, I’ve attached my facebook post with some rod and reel combos and just rods that have the eye and spring bobber already added.
