Picked up a Tikka T3 Forest .30-06. Now I need to get a scope for it. Don’t have tons of dough. Would like to get one under $400. Preferably closer to $300, but I don’t want to get and inferior scope. I want to be able to hunt in the woods in Minnesota but also be able to shoot mule deer at fairly long distances out in Montana.

I’ve looked at Leupold and Burris. What else?

Specifically I looked at the Burris Fullfield II 4.5-14X42mm and a Leopold VX-2 4-12X40mm.

Any other suggestions? Best places to get best prices?

I have the VX2 on a Tikka and it’s just an excellent scope. Simple and versatile. Very difficult to go wrong with a Leopold.

The Zeiss Terra 4x12x42 is another excellent scope for the money. Again, very hard to go wrong with a Zeiss, this scope is as good or better than anything else out there in this price bracket.

There are a wide variety of Nikon scopes in that price bracket. I have 2 Nikons and they are good for the money, I’m not sure I would say they are better than the Zeiss or Leopold for the money though.

Are Vortex really made in Wisconsin? I know that is where the company is based, but they don’t seem to state clearly wher the optics are actually made?

If you sign up for emails from OpticsPlanet.com, they run 10% off sales about once a month.

CameraLand New York has good prices and they sell off a lot of demo units and open box specials on their sales page.

As others have said, I have a tica 308 and have Leupold vx2 on it. Vortex and Leopold are the only scopes I use

Vortex, Leupold and Redfield are all good. Since Leupold bought the Redfield name, they have gotten 10x better than they were. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the Redfield scopes are also made in their Oregon facility. If you get into the $3-400 price point with Nikon and Bushnell, they are also awesome scopes.

All Vortex scopes are made overseas. Have no fear, their quality is top notch and their warranty is best in the industry.

Vortex scopes are made in the Pacific Rim. The only model they make in Wisconsin is their AMG model and that is $2k. I would look at the good old Leupold VX-3i 3.5-10×40. Great hunting scope and American made.

I know this is an old thread but I love my Burris e1. Very clear and a good price point.

Burris or Athlon. Best value on the market
