The daughter wants to buy the boyfriend a birthday present. Rod and reel combo under $100. Walleye rod maybe geared a little towards panfish. He’s relatively green around the gils on the fishing end but I suppose he can learn. Any suggestions? Maybe an end of season deal? Thank you for any response!

I’d say a Fenwick Eagle and a Pflueger President reel. Pretty versatile rod would be 7′ ML. That would be in the ballpark of $100 anyhow.
Any combo less than a Benny will relatively be fairly comparable. If he doesn’t have a fishing combo now, I’m sure he will care less what it is.
I’ve borrowed some cheap combos from relatives for fishing events and the pflueger is a nice setup, has caught alot of fish with newbies

Then I would look at reels.
Heck, you should be able to get er done for under eighty bucks
I would call and check Reeds in Onamia or Walker for something like this. They usually have some sort of HMX/HMG/Pflueger President combo on sale for around the price you are looking for. Not sure if they will ship them though
