Best Rod Holders?

I recently purchased a boat with flush mount Scotty bases. What are my best options for rod holders?

I’ll mainly be running trolling rods for walleye, with some 3 way rigs or long lining on spinning gear.

Is there anyone out there who uses the Scotty Power Lock rod holders?

I had some on a used boat years ago, was never a fan, currently use RAM mounted on the rails. If I trolled a lot I would go to a track system, but the boat cover could be a problem.

I’m open to anything, but they need to be compatible with the Scotty flush mounts already installed. Are most rod holders compatible with these?

I think only scottys will fit in the mounts. I have tried others and they don’t work

Scotty’s or cabelas branded rod holders should fit. Have been using them for trolling- including salmon for the past 11 years with no issues.

I’ve had Scotty PowerLock in my boat for about 5 years now. I’ve never used something else, but have no complaints. They do everything that I want. Love the flush mounts.

I also have these rod holders, and they are great. One thing to do in advance though of fishing is to consider extensions. The rod holders flush mounted to a deck or gunnel don’t leave enough space for longer handled rods at certain rod angles.

Correct, the cabelas rod holders are the same as the Scotty holders.

Does Scott make anything smaller with a tighter fit inside the holder? I just put a Power Lock Rod Holder in my hand at the local sporting goods store, and it looked like it would hold the barrel of a baseball bat. I appreciate the durability, but is there anything similar in a smaller scale?

You are correct that the Power Lock will hold a baseball bat; at least the handle end. Turns out I kind of like that. It’s easy in and out with the big trolling rods in a hurry. Since I only use them when trolling leadcore there is always plenty of tension so they never move around.

They do have a non-PowerLock model that looks smaller. Have no experience with it. I don’t think it has the twist lock which is pretty handy.

How many of those Scotty’s do you want? Pretty sure I’ve got more than several and there’s no way I’ll be using them again.

Pm if interested in Prescott pick-up. I can do an inventory of what I have tonight if interested.

    What’d you switch to?

Have both RAM and Scotty (Cabelas). Both work well, no complaints. If I were rigging a new boat today, I’d go Scotty. The ability to add in extensions when needed tips the scales.

    I run driftmaster pro duo
    Or
    Saltys

I still have my flush mount Scotty’s installed and only use them for my hand line reel which I mounted to a Scotty extension.

Have several bases and rod holders to get rid of
