I would like to buy a new rod for #7 rippin raps. Would anyone like to share what they have had the best luck with. Right now I’m thinking a Limit Creek 6’6″ medium fast. It’s rated for up to 3/4 oz. So I think it would work well. Thanks for your help!

I use a limit creek smoothie for 5 and 6’s. I very rarely use 7’s but can with that rod. I think you’d be just fine with the rod you mentioned since it’s got a bit more backbone. I love the limit creek rods.

I use the stuff I use for everyday use. Just a gander mountain rod. Seems to work fine.

I don’t have anything dedicated to just one lure. I bet that would be good though. I have to retie my different lures on a couple rods when I want to use a different lure. Kinda old school that way.

R.R.s that great or do you just like to have a rod for every lure you own?!

Thanks Matt! I have been wanting to try a limit Creek rod for a wile. I have other plans for this rod as well I was just curious what everyone was using for rippin raps. And the right rod for the right presentation gets you more bites, and less misses.

I used to use a 6′-9″ rod for rippin’ but there’s a fatigue factor after awhile. Changed to a 7′-1″ Tatula MH and it seems better. With a longer rod, range of motion is slightly less. Over a few hours of rippin’ it seems to make a difference..

Glad to hear that FryDog. I got the 7’1′ Tatula in December. Plan on putting Flouro on it and using that rod for a lot of different stuff, lipless baits included.
