What’s your thoughts on the best rental sleepers for a family on Red? Larger the better, does anyone rent larger ice castles up there?

    Much appreciated

Always had good luck with red lake ice cabins. They have castles and custom sleepers. Reasonably priced and take good care of us when we go.

I like west winds skid shacks. But I’ve only used them as sleepers on shore for early ice. No idea how they are once they transport them to the ice. But they are great size and set up

They’re the ones that operate out of rogers’, right?

First City Guide Service was solid for us when we used them. The wheelhouses were newer. I think they offer anything from 4-8 person houses…with the 4 person shacks being perfect for 3 guys.

Their houses were set in the same general area both times in 10-11′ of water or so relatively early ice. We would catch a few fish in the evening and over night, then take portables out far away from crowds during daylight to fish.

Outdoor Authority just built a 14’x40′ 10 person sleeper skid shack this year. That’s the biggest I’m aware of. They operate off the north shore these days.

I have rented with just about every outfit. Cookies and First city guides would be my first 2 calls in that order.

I haven’t heard anything about the “new” Red Lake Remote, but I know relatives who used them religiously when they were run by the past owner and raved about the service and relatively less pressure near the houses (because they didn’t allow public road passes out of their access).

Is it still run the same way?

Nope. No longer exclusively remote. I miss Jonny!

I still am a customer but not sure it would be the best fit for a family. It is still remote, not set up for TVs entertainment etc. They are wired if you bring / rent a generator. Long way from cell service too.
