Going to throw more heavy jigs for bass in mid summer. Now have a good spinning set up but am wondering what people like for line. I have a good flipping stick with power pro, so this new rig will be for 1/2 to 3/4 oz. stuff. Thanks

Top 3 IMO:
•Berkley XT
•Yo-zuri Hybrid
•Big Game
Be sure to gauge thickness… the above lines in 12# are the diameter/strength of most 15# fluorocarbon lines.

I assume you aren’t intending to use a spinning setup to toss heavy jigs Tim. Bass Jigs have heavy gauge hooks that require power to drive a good hook set. I would advise using a BC setup.
As for a general 10-15 lb mono, I have been using Sufix. I just started using Sufix Advance so I only have minimal results with it. Sufix Siege or Elite is pretty good. P Line isn’t bad either.
I’m not big on braid but have 1 frog rod and 1 spinning rod with Suffix 832 and like it.I’ve used Suffix Siege on all my baitcasters for years and no complaints.
I tried the Suffix Advance and did not care for it so i went back to Siege.
Any problem with throwing 1/2 oz. with spinning gear? Bothe rod and reel are rated for it-not a big fan of baitcasters. Is the XT supple? Otherwise I am hearing that Suffix is good. Thanks
Tim why not use braid to fluoro? Just curious. I find anything with braid is much more sensitive.
I love braid and use it a ton, for jigs I am not a fan because I hate tying leaders, lost the biggest bass of my life, I believe 24” to a leader knot breaking, that was in the fall, lake froze out that spring.
10-15# mono is better suited on a baitcaster but if you do a spinning I’d opt out for a more supple line. I really like CXX but wouldn’t put it on a spinning.
Modified Alberto knot with 7 twists will solve all your break-off woes.
Line broke at the knot.
So beads or anyone what is the best supple line, mono or hybrid? How high would you go on a spin, 8?
Braids about as supple as ya can get lol.
Personally I’m fixing the knot issue if it’s me and not the line. Gonna loose too many fish on weak hooksets with a spongy line.
If you insist tho, I’m going with whatever frydog advises. His pics don’t lie on getting er done
Like others here, I use a baitcaster when throwing Jigs. I’m not saying it can not be done just as well with spinning Gear ( As long as you have the correct setup for a bait of that size ) I as well would go with a Braid to Fluro line setup. I just think this would give you a much more solid hookup on the hookset
( Most large jigs have a heavy gage hook and they require a lot of force to drive home )
As far at the leader connection knot goes I would take a little time and learn to tie the FG knot. It takes some time to master but once you get it down, its not to hard to tie. I have not had a breakage at the knot since I started using the FG not. I tie my leaders rather long so that I don’t have to retie often when getting bit off by the toothy fish.
If I was going to go without a braid to leader setup I’d go with at least 20Lb. test in Fluro ( Less stretch than mono = Better hooksets )
I agree with every one.If your using spinning gear use braid and a leader. It will be a lot less agravating. It seems like once you get above 12# the damn stuff turns into uncontrollable cable on spinning gear.
Thumper you need to take me to your best lunker lake and prove to me that a hog will not break the knot.
If you tie a leader knot correct it will not break. I think this all comes down to the set up you are using is not the correct one. But you are close.
Bear- are you using the double uni knot? I’ve always done the blood knot
