I generally shoot for Cove Bay when i have gone in the past. Anybody launching there this year? Might head up Sunday pending weather. I doubt i would get there before 9 am. Will the lot be full? Should i look elsewhere? I can’t use a shallow landing. My boats a tub and requires a deep landing.

    Thanks

I am hoping it won’t be too bad since I will be there around the same time. Hopefully I will see you there.

The lake is up about a foot this season. I used it about a month ago without any problems. The one issue there is that there’s only one ramp and one dock, and it’s the closest access to the south side of the lake, so it can be quite busy.

I can’t speak to that landing, but every weekend I go by the landing in Isle bay it’s at least 3/4 full and that is about noon on Friday.

The Casino access can handle most any size boat, I’m just skeptical using it if I’m fishing until 10 (or overnight in the old days) as you hear there are a lot of break ins there.

I am just down the road from liberty beach. It has a lot of parking. 2 docks. I have never seen or heard of any break-ins or vandalism there either.

I’m a vote for using the Liberty Beach Public Access. Just saw a guy load a giant Cruiser there 2 weekends ago. LOTS of parking.

I vote liberty as well. Fairly central (north and south) and is close to a bunch of good spots.

    Dutch:

I have only been on ML, twice but each for week long stays at a VRBO that was advertised here. We have used everything from Isle Bay, Liberty, Hunter’s, Red Door, Wealthwood, Myr Mar Marina, North Garrison and Shaboshkung landings. Each was used for various reasons and obviously there are 3 in there that are harbor pay fee landings that we used to prevent us from having to trailer to the other side of the lake in areas of the lake that were fishable, but perhaps difficult to launch for the time we were fishing the area. Each of the privates were very suitable and with the exception of Wealthwood being very shallow and virtually unusable during any kind of intense south blow, they were all pretty usable.

Liberty is very nice, Isle Bay was nice for its size, Shaboshkung we only used once or twice. we stayed on the north side, so Wealthwood (right wind) and North Garrison were probably the most used by us, Liberty and Isle Bay next most used and Shaboshkung was only used once or twice.

I would reallly like to get back over there soon!!!

Hoping to head up tomorrow morning early. Goal is to be on the water no later than 7am but earlier would be better. I would prefer to launch out of a resort to avoid any issues with car break ins and throw a few dollars thier way. Looking to fish on the south/south east side. Best resort to launch from and what time do they generally open for me to pay for a launch pass?

Out now. Drove up 169 launches pretty full but not seeing anyone parking along the road so probably should find parking. Just about any launch will be deep enough for ya. Good luck

Chapman’s resort or Hunter Winfield’s resort would be good places to go out of. I would maybe call somewhere this evening and see what time they will be around in the morning if your going to go out of a resort! I have always had good luck at the Isle landing, but I know there is a concern with the string of crime that has been going on at the landings.

Hunters Point is actually allowing people to use their private access at no charge this season. They lost so many people when the new Liberty Beach access went in that they feel its worth it to provide free access and then try to lure them in to buy a beer, bait, or food too.

Well Dutchy did you catch any fish? Was bumpy out there yesterday but lead core bite was still strong for me. Can’t wait for the cooler weather and water temps to start dropping.

I caught a whopping zip other than a slight buzz from a few beers. Dragged crawler harnesses on the flats, trolled some cranks in a little shallower and did a little casting in shallow. Ive only fished mille lacs about half a dozen times so I dont really know what I’m doing out there. Wind and waves made boat control a little tough.

Still had a blast though and will try to get back soon.

Launched out of liberty. Very nice launch

Post was over a year ago. I can’t remember but probably not. grin Much like i tell the creel survey guys, I wasn’t fishing, just riding around in the boat. All the tackle and rods are just for weight to make the ride better.

You can travel the lake from end to end and never find one creel guy who ever saw me with a fish. laugh
