I was wondering what people’s opinions are on what the best rods available for dive and rise or gliders. Length, strength, tip, ect. Price not an issue, I want the best of the best. Thanks in advance for any info or experience you have!

There are many great rods out there but some things help some stand out from the others. To me the best jerk bait musky rod I have ever used was 7’-9” with an 18” full cork handle. I built this rod on a St. Croix SCIV blank. The extra-long handle is what makes this rod stand out. It takes a little to get used to while casting but gives you so much more torque and helps with fatigue while working a lure all day. It is by far one of the most used rods I own.

Sounds like you caught the musky bug. Best of luck to you and your hunting.

^ The closest off of the shelf rod would be the St. Croix Legend Tournament Musky Rod LMC76XHF “the jerk” 7’-6” XH fast action with the handle extended 3”.

Agreed – buy “The Jerk” or head to Thorne Bros and have them make you a custom rod for the baits you throw and the way you like to fish them.

I picked up a custom Pro Edge in 7″6 this past offseason, very happy with it, and it comes in well under the price point for both St Croix and Thornes, might be worth checking them out
