I have a 32″ perch sweetheart that I really like for walleyes. I have a couple of other custom rods, but that is my go to for walleyes and perch.

Watch the videos on their website or youtube channel. It helped me understand what action rod was best for my needs. That’s when it sunk in that I wasn’t buying a rod for the fish but for the presentation, specifically weight of the lure.

After that I talked to them and the rest was easy.

    The recipe for me:
weight: lighter spoons 1/8oz or so = Perch Sweetheart
Guides: fish outside often = outside guides, didn’t have the cash for recoil guides.
Length: lots of portable fishing = 28″ but could have gone a little longer
Handle: personal preference. I like to tape = Tennessee
    Colors: your call
    Inscriptions: your call

Awesome rod and my go to as well for walleyes. Still sensitive enough that if I have to use it for crappies I can do it in a pinch.

I really like the perch sweat hart for lighter spoons up to 1/8 ounce and flutter spoons such as a slender spoon. When I’m using heavier baits, I like the TUCR Precision.

I love my Perch Sweetheart. I would also look into the Medium-Light Tripwire.

Whichever rod you decide, don’t skimp on the guides, be sure to get Recoils. They are a little louder with braid, but well worth it overall. I like the standard 5″ cork handle. I’m partial to the 28-32″ rods, but it all depends on how you fish.

The Perch sweetheart is the one you want, the walleye rod is a heavy maybe for 8lb and bigger walleyes )
Go with a 28″ with the standard 5″ handle

I build custom rods and Have a blank that is close to the Perch sweetheart your looking at, PM me and I can get you a price and see if your close by to look at the blank before the build.

    Spot on
I love all my Thorne Brother Rods. It comes down to you on what you like. For the way I work my rod and for the rod holders I made, I like longer handles. If you are thinking of putting on an inline reel, you may want to go with a strait handle to tape the reel on instead of a lock-in one. Inline reels tend to be off balance and will cause the guides to hang a little off center. I personally think around30” long is a good length for in a house or outside.
Look over what you have a think of what you like and don’t like about the current setups you have. Pick out everything you like and try to combine it into the one you are going to get made.

I have a 32″ perch sweetheart with outside recoils. I love the rod but I feel it’s limited in the uses you want to get out of it.

IMO it can handle only certain 1/8 ounce spoons, depending on the spoon action/design – works well for flutter spoons like the Tingler/Tumbler/Slender spoon profile, OK for slab spoons like Frostees or Kastmasters, too mushy for any rattle spoons as I feel the rod tip gets loaded up too much on those spoon designs to work the lure like I want to.

I’d look to a Walleye Sweetheart or even a snipped Panfish Sweetheart if you’re sticking with Thorne or a Precision if you’re going with TUCR. 32″ works fine in my older Yukon and the extra length is nice, Recoils are pretty sweet, I have the standard 5″ handle. Good luck with what you decide.

Could not have explained it better.

I have a walleye sweetheart. It can handle anything for walleyes. Would the Perch SH be better for lighter stuff? Probably, but if you wanted one walleye rod, the walleye SH does great. I don’t often catch huge walleye through the ice, but when I do want the backbone of the walleye sh. I also fights smaller fish just fine and plenty of sensitivity for the lighter baits you mentioned.

28″ Walleye Medium Sweetheart with hidden hood teamed up with a Tica Cetus SS500 reel. 28″ Medium Heavy walleye Sweetheart for bigger spoons or rippin raps.

How long did they say it would be before you get it ? I’m thinking of pulling the trigger on the same rod.
