Onx and Navionics are my most used apps for hunting and fishing, along with a weather app (I prefer Storm Radar).

I haven’t had to pay for my Navionics app in a long, long time. I checked out a lake yesterday and I was shut out. I was prompted to pay $49.99 a year. Is that the going rate? If that’s the case I’ll stick with the free app OnX Fish for Minnesota, my old school handheld Lowrance H20 Finder, or my Livescope GPS to find structure/waypoints.

Lakemaseter’s One boat network app, HD lake maps on your phone , much better and cheaper than navionics. Navionics has been $50 for at least a year, a lot of people exported their waypoints and left the app.

OnX for hunting and now fishing, waiting on the android fish app though.

same here. For sure been >5 years since I’ve paid for it. Not a chance I’d ever pay $50 for Navionics, let alone annually! I believe as long as you keep it backed up in your icloud (for iPhone users), you won’t ever need to repurchase the app (at least that’s how I think I’ve got around paying for it). I am not able to download any new lake maps but I already had everything I needed downloaded years ago, so its not an issue.

edit – just checked my purchase history and the last time I purchased navionics was in 2017 for $4.99.

Thanks for sharing this. It’s starting to make sense to me now. I just got a new phone so I’ll have to dig deeper to see if I can get it all back.

In my experience with Navionics if you had downloaded the area previously it would include any lake in that area. Was this lake outside of that area? I have been using my app for like 10 years without updating. Granted I realize I am missing out on any updates, but I doubt they are updating any of the lakes I have originally downloaded.

I just use the tables for major and minor times local to where I’m at and weather bug app for weather conditions. Maybe I’m to old school, what does a fishing app tell you? I’ve always applied moon phase, major times, fronts, water conditions to tell me where and how. Something make it easier?

I was hoping an App that worked for creating trails to deer stands and that showed public lake access’ all in the same App.

Lakemaster one boat network for fishing. Best maps and if you have any humminbird products, you can Bluetooth to them (like control a link trolling motor).

OnX for hunting. Much better than hunt stand in my opinion. A lot of new features and map layers that are very helpful like the range finder feature or the oak tree map layer.

Both have a cost but if you use it frequently, I feel they are well worth it. I spend more money on less useful crap.

I use the Lakemaster app for mapping on my phone when I don’t have access to a gps unit. Pulling it up on the iPad when driving in the truck on the ice is nice
