I have a Lakemaster chip that I use in my Humminbird 598ci SI combo. I am looking at getting a handheld GPS but want to be able to use my lakemaster chip in it and am wondering if anyone has any reccomendations on what GPS would work with my Lakemaster SD card. I tried to go to lakemaster’s website but it seems like they merged with humminbird or maybe humminbird bought lakemaster because I cant find just a lakemaster site. Thanks in advance for the replies.

I don’t believe there is a handheld compatible with Lakemaster. Lakemaster was bought out by Johnson Outdoors Marine Electronics (along with Minnkota). AFAIK, they no longer license their software for other manufacturers.

FWIW, I went to the Garmin store in downtown Chicago recently, and tried a GPSMAP 78 unit with their LakeVu HD Ultra chip, and was real dissapointed with the results, compared to my ‘bird/LM chip.

The screen is far too small and cluttered to see any real kind of detail. Not sure what your needs are, but maybe a smaller 385/386 Humminbird combo in the ice fishing bag w/battery?

Look on Ebay for used lakemaster chips for Garmin. I found one for Wisconsin about a year ago. Good luck
