Looking to pick up a new sock for the new boat. Any recommendations? I have a 1875 Impact. Looking at Drift Control, Cabelas. Any others I should look at?

Drift Control Magnum series is very nice… Comes with a weight on the bottom of the bag so you can throw it into the wind. Because when your using it its usually blowing like hell. Also has ring of foam on top side. So the weight sinks, and the top floats up, and the bag almost immediately opens up. So your not there leaning over the side of the boat yanking on the rope to get it to deploy. It also has a nice float that’s included so it doesn’t sink into the lines. And a dump line. Get a big one for the front of your boat, and a small one for the back. It’ll slow’her down to a crawl in some gnarly conditions.

Since the impact is pretty light weight and fairly high out of the water. A 48″ or better would be my recommend for you. Again two is nice to keep the boat even.

    Good luck

I use cabelas drift socks. Also weighted on une side for easy deployment with a float on the top. I think I have three sizes. Biggest one I think is 60 inches. Bigger is better when the wind calls for a bag. Make sure the lead to the boat has a float so you can ditch it in a hurry and find it easily when needed.

I would suggest 2 socks. I have a 620 and most of the time one sock is good but if it’s windy having a second sock can make the difference between catching and not catching fish if speed is the key factor.
I figure it is a LOT easier to find ways to speed up vs finding ways to slow down.

Invest in a gpas jr. Attach to your drift sock and your drift speed will be steady and keeps the bag open. Cost is under twenty bucks. I will be helping at the northwest sports show and they will be available there.

I have a Cabelas for my (former) 17′ Alumacraft-never used, I’ll sell it to you for the price of shipping +$10. PM if interested, if nothing else may make a good 2nd like buckshot suggested?
