I install quite a few different doorbell cameras and simply safe is bad a$$.

Anyone have something better they would suggest?

Any old guys remember the days when you could leave your doors and windows open at night? Could go to bed not having to think where the gun was.

    Ah, the good old days.

Yeah, would be interested to know because I love our Ring system. Cams, alarm, smoke, fire, flood sensor. It all works great and easy to install.

The app is easy to use and monitored alarm service for $10 a month.

I have a Ring “boat cam” and have been happy.

I’ll be following along here as I know my parents would like me to install a doorbell cam for them.

I get the backs of everyone who comes up to the door. Postman, UPS, FedEx, the kid stealing packages, doesn’t matter. And it’s not like they are coming around a corner and quickly jumping in front of the camera, I have a long sidewalk and driveway for the sensor to see a person. Here is a recent screenshot of what I see every single time. Very rarely will I get the face of a person unless they stand in front of the door. Messed with settings and nothing helps. As a security device I would not recommend.

Also the app seems very clunky and slow.

Have a Blink camera that I got for free in my garage and that thing works awesome. Hopefully their doorbell works the same.

Same issues a munchies, half the time it does catch my kid coming home and unlocking the door until the screen door is shutting.
Most time it will pick the person up but not clearly. There is a bunch of things I don’t care for it much. I would like a better quality one.

For a mid level system my Arlos have been quite good. Had connectivity issues last year but for the past half year or so they seem to have fixed it. Picks up motion really well, great battery life, works in the cold in my garage and wifi reaches out pretty far to the cams, easy setup. Not the greatest definition or clarity but I don’t need to see freckles or birth marks, just want to know if it is or isn’t someone I know.

We have Ring and had to lower sensitivity and decrease the alert box because it was constantly alerting and recording. We didn’t need every leaf that blew by or the grass moving from the wind. Finally have set to person detection and seems to be working like we want.

Can you zoom with the ring?

Simply safe I can, Abode I cannot.
    Not fond of the Abode.

Can you zoom with the ring?

It’s not true optical zoom, but yes, as well as scroll around the screen.

I’ve had no problems with my new ring doorbell camera. The rest of the cameras they make are junk and only activate like half the time. Same with the Netgear Arlo’s.

I’ve had battery drain issues with my Ring doorbell in the cold winter months, but their plug-in spot cams are awesome..

That’s going to happen with all battery operated devices. My hardwired Ring died for a few weeks last winter during that hard cold snap.

Last few houses I built all went with separate camera systems and alarm system. Definitely costs much more.

Surprisingly Lorex system has need great. Tech support, well not great. Night clarity and zoom features are outstanding. 3TB NVR keeps a couple weeks recording of 8 cameras 24/7

Most common security system we have installed has been the Honeywell lyric system – all have worked flawlessly

I’ve had arlo cameras for 3 years now ever since the mailman didn’t know how to put his mail truck in park and it took off and smashed into my house and he drove off. I have 5 of them total and they have been great with no monthly subscription for 7 days of recording. Mine are battery operated but I ran power to mine so I don’t have to recharge them ever

Happy with my Arlo system. I have a doorbell and 4 cameras around my house. Had it for more than a year and so far just the neighbors cat, birds squirrels, rabbits and the occasional raccoon at night. I work from home most days and have it off, but now that the wife will be ordering stuff online more as we get closer to xmas, I’ll have it on during the day to watch for packages and people that might want to abscond with them.
