Well, I got 6 years out of my two Die Hard 27 trolling motor batteries… not bad. Anyone aware of any good battery specials out there? I’m not brand loyal when it comes to batteries.

I saw Die Hards are about $100 and Batteries Plus approx $95. Any others I should check out? Do most places offer free recycling on the old ones?

Been 6 years so have been out of the market — hoping for a 2-for-1 special out there somewhere ;)

    Thanks, -Fry

I’ve always found the local cabela’s to be the best place to buy batteries, wait until they go on sale and use the xx$ off $150+ purchase cards they routinely send out..

I’m rigging my boat today and topping off my trolling batteries before installing them. I noticed they are from 2010 and still working fine. They are Napa deep cycle batteries. I don’t get anywhere near that longevity out of the starter batts but still save money buying the cheaper batteries that require maintenance and taking good care of them.

For those of you that take your boat out of storage this spring and the TM batteries crap out on you like they did for me…

For what its worth, I shopped around and found most Group 27 batteries in the $100-125 range. I came across some Duracell’s at Batteries+ for $89 and with a $10 rebate were $79. Never had that brand before, but online reviews were as good as anything else I found… One year warranty.

Best deal I found out there anyway if your TM goes “click” this spring too :0

+1 for the Duracell batteries at Batteries +. I’ve been using these for 3+ years with no issues.

I have three of the Mill’s Fleet Farm Resolute batteries in my boat. All are grp27. The one that I use for starting and electronics is a dual purpose, starting and deep cycle. The other two are deep cycles for the 24v trolling motor. The trolling motor batteries are also used in the fish house during the winter, one at a time for three days, and then swapped out for a freshly charged one. I’ve been impressed with their performance. All three will be 7 years old in July. They still seem to be fine but I think I will be replacing them this season. The seven years is making me nervous about pushing my luck with them that long.

Exide 31 series deep cycle at Home Depot for $120 after tax. 3 seasons with good results.

I have 3 of the Fleet Farm AGM group 31 starting/deep cycle. They run about $170.00 each but are just as good as the more expensive name brands. These were new last June. I stored my boat all winter with the batteries in the boat, positive cables disconnected. When I plugged in the on board charger this week it only took 10 minutes to top them off. Great batteries.
