Best Canned Corn For Bait

Hi guys! I’m new here but just wanted to see what your favorite brand of canned corn is! My grandpa used to always tell us that the best kind was anything but creamed corn becuz that wouldn’t stay on the hook once you take it outta the can. I didn’t always laugh when he’d say it because it’s so dumb. You’d hafta have a drill with you to drill through the can before you could get a hook through it and unless it was one of those real small cans it probably wouldn’t work well anyways HAHA Who takes a drill fishing? I sure as he11 don’t.

The two brands I usually find around are Libby’s and Del monte. I think the del Monte hooks better but the Libby’s says its sweet corn which is better for nibbling on out of the can when the fish aren’t hungry LOL

So, what I want to say is do not just trust the bait shops to have the best corn. Grocery store corn works just fine and I think it is better because freshness matters. Make sure to check the born on date!!! Always. If I compare the Libby’s and the del monte and the DM is fresher I sometimes just buy the dm instead. Stays hooked and seems to work.

    What do you guys think?

I don’t know is corn is fish species specific but I fish extensively for Kokanee salmon and Green Giant Shoepeg corn is always the hands down favorite amongst Kokanee fishermen. It is a very sweet corn. We soak it in a variety of Pro Cure scent products. Pro Cure even came out with some dyes in the last few years so one can have a variety of colors of corn like hot pink.
