Prime rib bacon from The Hungry Farmer in North Branch. Soooo good, just lean enough, smokey/sweet enough. They also have good hamburger for grilling, I always look for the 80/20 stuff which can be hard to find at the butcher. Little place next to a gas station right off of 35.

Hungry farmer has lots of good selection and it changes daily. I live a few minutes from the store so I’m a frequent visitor

Big fan of Lonsdale Country market. They have great bacon and the cottage bacon is the best on eggs benedict and BLTs.

Its not bacon but mallard smoke breast meat for breakfast is very good also. Had it for breakfast as a kid living with my uncle on the farm near Faribault.

Hickory Nutz in Medford, WI. Venison bacon. There’s a reason that a group of us send 1500 lbs of venison cumulatively every year to have bacon made!

Be warned, you will lose all desire for boring normal bacon.

Don’t eat too much bacon anymore around the house w prices being so stupid high, can’t justify 7 bucks for bfast protein.

But typically spoil myself on fishing trips, usually stop on our way at a local shop, small town meat markets everytime is a freaking winner.

You can keep the cost of bacon down a little if you buy the whole pig. I normally get 30-35 lb of bacon from one pig.

    X2! Theilen

x3 just went thru about 7 pounds of Thielens Bacon on our houseboat trip. Bacon and eggs, BLT’s and bacon wrapped venison yay . I have some family that was also raised on Thielen’s that swears RJ’s Meats in Hillman is as good or better, but I haven’t given it the taste test yet.

When pork shoulders [butts] go on sale, buy a few and save a couple to bone out and slice the meat sections into 2″ thick slabs. Cure it as you would regular bellies and smoke it up. Never know the difference. Whole, boned, cured and smoked pork shoulder is cottage bacon. Excellent eating and way cheaper than bellies.

I was raised on a farm and when we had a hog processed it was 20 to 23 lbs of bacon from a 250 lb. hog.

No meat store visits for us over the weekend. We ate adged steaks I had adging for a couple weeks. And we have a ton of bacon from out hog. If you like ribeye they always have deals on tomahawks as well.

The farmer I buy my pigs from likes to send them in around 280-290 lb. The bacon is a little fatter than what I would prefer. The extra fat on the other cuts makes up for it. I want to say the last 4 were 290 lb.

Growing up we butchered many hogs. I don’t think we ever got more then 20ish lbs of bacon. 15 to 20 was average for a hog maybe a few lbs over 20

I’ll have to see if Lauderdale allows pigs, if we had a pig my wife would name it, and the name would not be ‘Bacon’.
