Subject line this “Everts Resort” Or “Vikings” and you will get action..
Sorry,, I don’t have any real insight on the rain gear.. I use Crestliner stuff….and sometimes a garbage bag.

September 16, 2016 at 6:01 pm #1639990Simm’s stuff is pricey, but it’s very good stuff. I splurged on a G3 Wading jacket six years ago and it’s been completely dry in the heaviest rains and it wears like iron.
I also have a pair of Gander Mountain bibs that have worked out well for me.

September 16, 2016 at 6:14 pm #1639993Cabelas gortex guide wear for me, won’t buy anything else. Current set is 7+ years old and still dry
September 16, 2016 at 6:53 pm #1639997For some reason I have done a lot of research on rain suits, I’m talking like 10+ hours. Subsequently I own about 5 or 6 waterproof outfits. What I can tell ya is that after spending all that money and having some really really nice suits, if I could do it over again I would get a thick pvc suit for cold weather (cost about 60-100 bucks) and a cheap nylon suit for hot weather and be done with it. I own a bass pro shops goretex suit, a carhartt pvc suit, a cabelas thin nylon suit and a few other jackets and pants by various brands including Columbia, frog toggs, and cabelas. Out of all of them I think the carhart pvc suit provides the best all around protection and best bang for the buck. Pvc is heavy and it doesn’t breath, but if you are fishing in a boat in sub 60 degree weather in the rain are you terribly comfortable anyway?
Just my 2 cents

Got Simms last year in early June. Greatest rain gear I’ve ever owned but not what you’re thinking. I swear this stuff is like mojo against rain. I pack it or put it on and the rain doesn’t come. Can’t give an honest review
2015
June – week at Rainy lake, 30 minute hard downpour and worked great
August – 2 weeks in Alaska, didn’t wear it
Sept – week at Rainy lake, awesome weather or rained at night. no true test2016
May – four days in Canada. Mildly wet, mostly from the boat ride. Left the day the all day rains came
Last week at Rainy lake – one storm actually split and went around us. Some rain here or there but no real test. That’s five weeks out and still can’t say if it’s better than what I’ve had in the past.
Greatest damn rain gear ever!
September 20, 2016 at 4:35 pm #1640659^^^Now if the gear was responsible for it NOT raining, I will be buying some tomorrow!!! lol that is great!
JonesyPosts: 1148September 20, 2016 at 7:28 pm #1640673I’m partial to Stormr Fusion gear for all weather. Difficult to find a location to try on, much like Simms. But you can buy them online at Cabelas or Bass Pro and I believe Kruger Farms have them as well.
Reed’s up on Leech Lake does carry them in their store.
I am going to be at leech in a few weeks and will have to check it out. I hear they run small though.
September 21, 2016 at 7:59 am #1640758I have a set of Cabelas guide wear that is at least 15 years old and still dry as a bone. I only use it spring and fall because it is TOO warm for summer temps. It is a non insulated suit.
Karry KylloPosts: 1269September 21, 2016 at 8:27 am #1640764I have had non insulated Cabela’s Guide Wear for at least 5 years as well. I haven’t tried the other brands mentioned, but it’d be tough to beat Guide Wear.

So how did they figure that out?
Forget it one trip, and there will be biblical rain.

There’s a chance I’ll blunder onto the river tonight, and it should be a soaker, except I’ll stay dry.
September 21, 2016 at 3:36 pm #1640901I have insulated Cabela’s Guide Wear. If it rains, I’m soaked to the bone!!!

Take it back to Cabelas. If it’s leaking they should warranty it.
