Two years ago, it was $20.00 per head plus USPS shipping both ways and he was incredibly fast in getting it turned around. It took about five years to finally get to the point of needing a sharpening. I don’t have to deal with a lot of dirt in the ice around here though. That will dull a shaving auger fairly quickly.

That’s a down payment for a torn rotator cuff….Buy GAS!! Drill more holes, catch more fish.

Nils drills very easy. Buy one and you can always get tanaka power head down the road.

For a little less $ you can also buy a Strikemaster Lazer hand auger. They work well. I have two and use them for first ice only. Once its 6 inches I use gas.

never used one. They seem to cut fast but when its 6″ or more I can’t imagine choosing any hand auger over even the most basic gas auger.

A friend rigged a hand auger onto a battery drill rig from clam. works really well and still very light. He’s drilling 12″ hole with no problems.

You will not beat a Nils. I have a bad shoulder and it still cuts with ease.

Yep. Just what he said! I use a Tanaka power head with a Lazer hand auger drill 7″. Nothing faster. Tanaka 262R is what I have for a power head.
