Seems options come down to the MK edge and MG x3. I like the deploy on both motors, that lift and scissor style seems to be real nice for running and gunning. Father has a MK PD and is PIA to put down and up.

Only have room for 12v and will be getting biggest battery I can fit in compartment.

My biggest factor is stealthiness. Don’t like clunk sounds when engaging motor.

14′ boat, alumacraft backtroller, fish rivers a lot along with metro lakes, figured a 55# with a 36″ shaft should do the trick, afraid I might have to shave shaft more but will cross that bridge when I get there. I have a 35# on the transom and things useless for current, apples and oranges but most searches have concluded more motor is better.

Any other options I’m missing for motors? Don’t need auto or ipilot. Just good ol quiet bow mount.

If I remember correctly the edge uses a resistor type control for the speeds and uses up a lot of power. Stepping up to a maxxum would be a good choice. I am not a fan of the peddle for the motorguide cable steer tm.

Have you considered a 36 volt terrova with i-link hooked up to a new 12″ humminbird with dual data core sinka beta processors? Seriously though I would just get the powerdrive 55lb. I never have problems stowing and deploying mine and my friends just don’t seem to be able to get it right. All in the technique I guess and a little lube doesn’t hurt. I think variable speed is a must have and that is not offered on the Edge.

Got a 12 volt in my garage taking up space. Power drive with auto pilot. About 15 years old. I never did use it much.

Don’t know why I googled 12v bow mount and top searches came up with the edge and x3 and somehow I thought those were only 12v out there. doah Looked at MK and MG websites enough to know better, brainfart indeed.

The maxuum does seem to be a superior setup with the deploy I was looking for and providence has provided a link to one, Sweet! Thanks much guys on the responses. toast
