I’ve never used a Berkley snap jig, but if the purpose is to get a softbait to swim like a jigging rap, then any center-balanced jighead will accomplish this. A jigging rap is a balance jig….it gets it’s action from the balance point of the jig. There are several center-balanced jigheads out there…bullet, H-style, chub…etc. The jighead will hang horizontally if you hang the plain jig from its eyelet. If you rig a fluke style plastic flat on the jighead, the fluke acts like the rapala fin making the whole package swing out as it jumps up when stroked. This package walks the dog at depth similarly to how jigging raps do with similar rod action. I prefer the bullet jigs. Jighead weights depend on depth or desired speed. If you lose one in the rocks you are out $1 instead of $8.
