Just a quick note from Bemidji. A bunch of IDO’ers are up here trying to extract walleyes from this ~6000 acre perch factory in preparation for Saturday’s FLW walleye league event.

I’m sure that I caught more 8-11″ perch today than I have in the past couple of years combined. Deep, shallow, weeds, gravel, sand….doesn’t matter, the perch are there.

Walleyes….here and there, they show themselves. Hopefully they leave a bit of room in their tummies for a nice Saturday brunch.

I went up to Bemidji on college break one year to visit some high school friends. We did a little ice fishing and caught a beautiful mess of jumbo perch. The only problem was that they forgot the auger, so we had to chip out some holes-easiers said that done w/ 18″ of solid ice. As we were frying them up, we see some of their friends come in w/ a limit of real nice eyes.

    “Where did you get those”

“Out of some huge holes that some idiots chipped out of the ice”

Good luck on Saturday to both of you. I was up on Leech in Mid-June and we caught plenty of perch but far more eyes over the 18″ slot.
