Walleyes in the area are still thriving on the new weed growth. As the cabbage grows and greens, the baitfish swarm to it, and the walleyes and pike follow. Lots of fish in 3-12′ of water right now. Finding a pod of cabbage and hitting SpotLock and fan casting a jig and shiner has worked well, as has drifting or slow moving through cabbage or on shallow sand. Bigger fish have been hanging mixed in, or sitting out deep eating easy passing meals. 18-30′ of water off structure has been working well…
Bass fishing has taken off in the last week. We went from pre-spawn patterns to fish protecting beds in a matter of days. Largies and smallies are hot to trot, and some real pigs are out there for the taking!
Panfishing has also been good, with a lot of crappies in post-spawn mode or just finishing up. Sunfish have yet to really bed up yet, but can be found roaming in very shallow water, in new weeds or lillypads. Practice selective harvest when the fish are easy to target in the spring/early summer!
Give us a ring for some great fishing!
