Only ten days left until I return to the north country in pursuit of Walleye, Northern Pike, and Smallies. Will be centering on Blackduck Lake, but am open to other close-by waters. Anyone have suggestions? Will post pictures of what we hook into…

Lake Bemidji for walleyes and northern. Make a day trip up to Red Lake while you are there also. Where will you target smallies?

According to the resort owner, he has a few spots on Blackduck Lake. Will check those out early. Then, may make the run to Rainy (my old fishing home). And, also, have taken a few from Island Lake near Northome.

I would rather fish Lake Bemidji for walleyes than Red Lake right now. You can keep 6, no slot, and the fishing is bonkers still. Jigs and minnows in 4-12′ of water has been stellar! Pike are going as well as the perch.

You won’t find any smallies on Blackduck, but if you travel to Island you’ll find some nice ones. Also some really good walleye fishing at times. Even some good pannies in there.

Have fun, you’ll go home grinning ear-to-ear!

Thanks Matt… on an ISTM (it su%$ to be me) note – fishing boat was destroyed in latest windstorm here in Omaha. Are there boat rentals available on Lake Bemidji?

Yes, through Ruttger’s Birchmont Lodge on Lake Bemidji. Otherwise you can always hire a guide…
