I have the bedrug and absolutely love it. I will definitely get it again. I have moved it between two different trucks since they were the same body style. Easy on the knees when crawling around and easy to clean.

Do you have a topper or hard cover?

Initially I had a truxedo lowprofile rollup cover and I just put on a used topper over the summer. Happy to have a topper, but the tonneau was nice and I had it on 3 trucks before making the switch to the topper. Visibility with the topper is obviously way worse, but its so nice to have extra height in an enclosed space and I put a shelf in the front which can be easily accessed through the side windoor. If you get a topper, you really should get those at least on one side. My only regret is I didnt notice mine doesnt have vents on the windoors until after money exchanged hands so I cannot open them for ventilation with the dog in there. I will upgrade trucks in a few years and make sure the next topper has those.

I can see using the Bed Rug with a topper or like my buddy has a hard tonneau cover. So basically it’s out of the elements all the time.

I leave my bed exposed to the elements often. Whether it’s hauling firewood, putting a boat in, dog kennel, etc

I dont think I had left mine open when I had a tonneau other than hunting with the kennel in the back. Now, with the topper its obviously never exposed. I dont haul wood, rock, dirt etc. I use my trailer for that, but I completely agree with your point. I dont think that would be a good scenario if you use your truck that way often.

My dog pretty much travels exclusively in her crate in the back of the truck. So my bed is open more than it’s closed now that I think about it.
