I might be needing a bed liner and soft cover for a new truck. Can someone suggest a place in the north metro to have it done?

    Thanks,

I had Line-X sprayed in at Arden Hills. After some research, they seemed to have the best reviews. I’ve been happy.

I have nothing for a soft topper but I’m interested in what you find out.

Work them into your deal at dealership after negotiation along with lazer fit matts. With little negotiating these days good option. The rubber matts at fleet farm are great no sliding around and easy on the knees.

The professional spray on bed liner is hard to beat. Mine came with the factory installed plastic liner but if it didn’t I’d do the spray on one. Customized weather tech floor mats are also a good choice if you do any amount of hunting when mud and other debris could come in on your boots.

Husky floor liners are good also. Put a rubber mat in the bed after you get it sprayed. It keeps stuff from sliding around.

My last pick up I bought a hard cover that folds in 4 sections. Front flips open or back flips up or the 3 back sections fold over the front section. Best most useful box cover I have ever used. Kids can walk on it, I can set heavy things on it. Surely they still sell these but be worth looking into. Best money I’ve ever spent.

I personally think a $75 Dee Zee rubber bed mat is the way to go. It protects the floor and stops stuff from sliding around and can easily be removed. I’ve converted quite a few friends/family who used to get the expensive spray in liners.

    -DeeZee bed mat
    -Access Tonneau cover
    -Husky X-act floor matts

All can be easily ordered and installed yourself.

I bought a TruXedo TruXport and I hate it. Mainly because of the look it’s not very clean sits on top of the box. If you have a strong cross wind it will pull the Velcro loose. I called Truxedo with my concerns and they wouldn’t let me exchange for the lowpro. The velcro part they said it was installation.

I agree with the others who have recommended rubber mats. I got one at FF for around $85 after I bought a 2013 Silverado and loved it. You can pull out out and spray/clean it whenever you want and nothing really slides around on it. When I bought a 2020 Silverado recently I did some research and found Husky liner bed mats to be just a little but more expensive but nothing major, and they looked nice too. I ended up continuing to use the same mat I had previously had, it’s just a little big for my new truck bed but nothing major. So in the past 7-8 years of owning two different trucks I’ve used the same $85 bed mad the entire time and I’m completely happy with that decision.

I’ve had a few Access covers, no issues at all. Nice rails easy install.
There’s a place on 81 near Rogers that has you in and out in 20 mins if you want it done.

Spray ins have their place (Line-X recommended here) and rubber bed mats have their place. Both protect the bed from scratches and rust and things sliding around. The spray in also protects the interior box sides from damage, if you haul materials such as rock or gravel. Access are good for a soft tonneau, they also have a more cost effective version with a lesser warranty called an Agri Cover. Radco carries both I believe.

I installed a BedTred Ultra liner in my current truck. It has worked very well for me and no regrets. That product has been replaced by the BedRug Impact liner. I will definitely install one in my next truck.

I never understood the bed liner as any dealer I’ve ever talked to said no value in a trade in same as a cap but to each their own. Rubber floor mat for sure, huge knee saver.

Be cautious with a bed mat if you intend to keep the truck for awhile. Rocks and debris can get under it and slide around, causing scratches which will eventually rust. Take it out every so often to clean the bed and the mat. Personal experience. For $500 I went with a spray-in on my new truck so I never have to worry about it again.

Not sure trade in value is why people add them.

I think they say that just to low ball you on price. I’ve had 2 salesman tell me that too.

Depending on what you are putting in the back I love my Bed Rug. Its now 10 years old and still looks pretty good. I always have a topper on though. I like that it goes over the tailgate and up the sides. My bed looks brand new still after 6 years.

I only keep my trucks for three years and then trade up…. eating the cost of an expensive spray in LineX each time. That sucks…. but I would never not do it. I’m in and out of my bed daily…. no slipping ever. Things stay put. Quieter. I can beat on the bed with tools and crap and never care… sides or bottom.

When loading a boat I have the tailgate down… no slipping with wet shoes or anything, 100% more safe and functional. Snow is better as well. While I hate the cost- it is what it is. Like any accessory, you eat the cost. Only plus on spray in is it still looks good when selling it. Much harder selling a truck that looks like a work truck back there.

I would definitely atleast get a rubber bedmat.

After a bad experience with Line X I would not recommend them to anyone.

On my current truck I went to Arma coatings in Rogers and had a spray in liner applied. He did a fantastic job for a reasonable price. It is a similar product to line x but I would say it is a not quite as hard. He also sells and installs tonneau covers and other accessories. It is owned and operated by a veteran, very nice and knowledgeable guy. I put a rubber bed mat in as well and it keeps things from shifting around and is easier on the knees when having to crawl in the back.

I installed a truxedo truxsport tonneau cover and like it so far. I had a truxedo low pro on an old truck and that was good too.

When they applied the liner they didn’t cover the truck leaving overspray covering the entire truck. They broke off a bolt for a tie down bracket and didnt bother fixing it or telling me about it. They also gouged the paint in a few spots to bare metal.

Just bought a new Ram. I think I want to stick with a spray-in liner. I often leave my bed exposed to the elements and I don’t think a rubber mat or the carpet liners would be good for that. Hauling firewood, etc

Traded in my old truck which had a spray in liner I liked but it was done at the factory before I bought it and not sure the brand. It was a thinner hard material so thinking LineX

Anyone had the Rhino material? Or should I stick with Line X?

My first Line-X was done in the Golden Vally location in 2004. Great job and held up perfectly with throwing wood in, sliding a boat in, etc. Things you use a truck for.
In 2015 when I got my next truck there were 2 locations near Mpls.: Arden Hills and Lakeville. I bought the Line-X through the place I got my topper from and they use the Arden Hills location. Just like fishingdm, they had over spray over the entire truck. They did pick it up from my house and clean it up but the windshield has never been the same. Eats windshield wipers. Also they did a half ass job on roughing up the paint because the first thing I slid into the box tore a piece on the tailgate revealing the poor prep. The product is great but don’t go to the Arden Hills location.
FOr my next truck I’ll use a different location or a different product.

Like Fishingdm alluded too, the more important thing is “who” is doing it. Both Rhino and LineX are great and have pro’s and con’s and either one you choose you’ll be happy…as long as the place does it right!

I have the bedrug and absolutely love it. I will definitely get it again. I have moved it between two different trucks since they were the same body style. Easy on the knees when crawling around and easy to clean.

Do you have a topper or hard cover?

I’ve had a spray-in liner on my trucks and won’t change that. They clean up easily and protect the truck. My current F150 has Line-X. I’m not sure one product is significantly better than the others, rather it’s all about the prep and attention to detail when it is done.

As far as my cover, the Truxedo on my truck has lasted 6.5 years without the slightest hiccup. It goes through the carwash in the “deployed” position without issue. I’ve had 16″ of heavy snow piled on it and not seen any damage. The velcro takes an extra second in two spots to seal perfectly, but is not an issue considering the age and abuse it goes through.
