Sadly my grandmother passed away yesterday, but it’s been a thing we have all been getting ready for. Shes out of pain and misery.
She lived out side of Morris mn and I have been running beack and forth helping move out a 5 generation farm house. Lots of cool antiques and just memories in the place.
My grandpa was a well known and respected wood worker. He has been gone for 18 years. In the process of moving and cleaning I was able to get my hands on some of My favorite pieces of his. The train being number 1, the sail boat is another. He made 100s of fully detailed cars from model As and Ts, to bowls and plates and all sorts of stuff.
It was a skill that he was teaching me when he passed. I wish I had learned more before he left us. But I just wanted to share some Beautiful pieces of art he had made. Also found anti tank rounds for wwii along with endless amounts of really cool stuff. Very cool just rummaging through what I call treasures.

Few cars that will be displayed in my house along with many other pieces. All the cars are numbered and engraved on the bottoms. The interiors have full real life detail. It’s amazing to me the skills it must take to build tthese. Especially 20 30 40 years ago.

That is very cool work! Don’t ever get rid of that stuff, or at least save your favorite ones. Sorry to hear about your grandma, Ron. Like you said, at least she’s not feeling the pain anymore. I’m sure she’s proud of you and your son, as I can see him in the background!

BC, I hope Grouse doesnt see this thread, he will want to borrow that 36 mm round and figure out a way to neck it down to 30 caliber and build a crazy azz wildcat round with it, and, it wouldnt surprise me if he did it a for a pistol as well, true IDO type stuff.

Sorry for your loss, Bearcat. I lost my last Grandparent in Highschool, but my wife has 3 of 4, still. I’ve become close with them and it will be very tough when their days come.

That woodwork is fantastic, you don’t see much of stuff like that anymore. What a cool legacy and a great thing to keep in the family.

Grandpa was a talented guy. His pole shed ceiling was lined with hand made rc air planes that he built because he didn’t like the kit planes. He used to let us fly those when we were young.

He was also a custom bike builder, he had so many motorcycles it was unreal, from early 1900s Harleys, to the first sears bike ever sold, to a custom trike he built due to not being able to hold up a bike and grandma at the same time when he got sick. He did all sorts of hot rods. I wish I was older when he was alive so I could take more in.

Talent like that is a true gift. I had a good friend that was a national champion decoy carver. He tried to get me started, could have just as well tried to teach me to fly.
