beard trimmer

It seems like every beard trimmer I buy lasts about 6 months before it craps out. I usually have a beard all year and trim it about every week or so… Simple math tells me that my beard trimmers are lasting about 25 times before they start having major issues or stop working all together. Does anyone have a good beard trimmer they can recommend?

My husband is a fan of the Wahl brand trimmers. I’m not sure on price or where he bought it from. It might have been Amazon. Places like Ulta Beauty and Sally Beauty Supply sell various professional trimmers as well and they could help recommend one for you. You don’t need a special license to shop at either of those stores. Might be worth to check them out. Don’t worry, I see plenty of men in those stores as they sell guy products too.

99% of trimmer issues revolves around dull cutting edges. I just buy a new cutter set and things take right off again. The smaller framed trimmers need to be cleaned well after each use so If you’re brushing it out every five or six trims, clean after every trim. Brushing is one thing. I use that canned air used on computer key pads to blow the fine stuff out along with brushing.

Interesting. I’d like to use one as I like to keep a beard but everyone I’ve used takes my beard down too far. Even when I use the clip that’s for the longest hair it takes off too much and I’m left with the George Michael stubble. Probably just use error idk.

I’ve have a Norelco for probably 3 years now and it works good. The battery only lasts about one trim now, but the cutting edges are still good. Your mileage may vary, my hair isn’t very thick…

I have a cheap one and will have to look at the brand later. I have had it for years and years and trim my beard 2 to 3 times a week. The only problem I have with it is it turns on when I travel and the battery dies.

    Edit: It’s a Norelco

I have Wahl products and very pleased with quality and longevity. I’ve owned cheap POS products and the were a waste of money. I took notice of all the old timers barbers all had Whal trimmers, so I finally asked about them.

Like every company, they have their entry level crap. Buy mid range or higher and you’ll have it for years.

Mine is used weekly and I’ve had it for years

… And whoever gets near your bag doesn’t think it’s a beard trimmer.

I have a Norelco also. Just use an electric razor with a trimmer included. But I only have a stash not a full beard.

Wahl all the way. I trim my beard and head once a week and the thing is 4-5 years old without fail.

Every single haircut and beard trim I’ve had since I was 17 has been with the same Wahl clippers, and it’s still kicking.

I like that idea. I always just tear the Busch can in half. Then I get a spit can and a shaver. It also impresses the ladies

Got me a Phillips trimmer at Costco for $30. It has a lithium battery. Had it for 4 months. Hopefully it holds up.

i use a Wahl weekly, closely trimmed using a guard. sharp blades help a lot.

for a longer beard, it’s hard to beat a trip to a barber every few weeks and daily beard oil to keep it manageable in between.

On my second trimmer. After realizing that I also needed to lubricate the blades with oil, there probably was nothing wrong with the first trimmer that I tossed.

It is also used for monthly hair cuts, what’s left of my hair anyway.

Make sure to clean and lube it and it should last.

Cheap conair one on my end also haven’t had the beard for about 6 months. Used it to give my son a buzz cut last night though. A lot of bang for the buck or not much buck it cost.

I’ve neve oiled it or done anything to maintain it. Are you doing something with them that’s inadvertently wrecking them? Seems really odd they’d break.

Manual of mine called for drop of oil on the sheers every 3-5 buzzes.

Billy regularly brushes off the blades and oils them on our trimmer. I think it makes a difference. I have an undercut (meaning the hair on the back of my head underneath my long hair is buzzed off) and I can tell when the blades need to be oiled or the screws tightened. The trimmers we’ve had start to pull hair a bit without maintenance.
