I have it myself and it is just fine sir…you have the option of allowing people to view your profile, pictures ect. The person has to be approved by her before anything is available to them. Just explain make sure she knows everyone out there…it is 10 times safer than myspace that is a fact

I’ve worked with jr high and sr high students for a lot of years, so I’ve been around the social networking sites as long as they’ve been going. I feel that Facebook is one of the safer sites. You have to acknowledge that you know someone before they can become a friend.

I agree with what is said above. One of the safer “friend” sites. Stay far away from myspace!!!

There is an option to make it public. Don’t allow her to make it public.

I have a face book page myself. It is safe from the freeloaders & freaks, BUT, any site is only as safe for you as you want it. So if your putting pics of yourself out there that you wouldn’t show mom or dad, it won’t be ‘that’ safe. Parental monitoring. The minor child should have no problem with that. Good luck.

I’m a bear hunting rookie in need of some advice…Leaving for Ontario for an archery hunt, and I’ve got a few??
-Do I need to bring anything to “sweeten” the bait?
-An outfitter friend of mine told me he fills a sock with vannilla extract, nails it to a tree and the bears go crazy…He also puts a few drops of vanilla on his Thermacell……any thoughts on this?
-How do you judge a “shooter”

I woudn’t bring anything to “sweeten” the bait. Bears get conditioned to a specific type of bait and a change can put them off for a while.

I never heard of vanilla on the Thermacell. I’d lean towards being scent free as possible.

Big bears usually have small looking ears that are on the side of their heads. Small bears have big “Mickey Mouse” ears on the top of their heads.

All bears look big at first. A really big bear will look HUGE!

Don’t shoot too soon. Luckily, bears usually stay around a bait for a while. That gives you plenty of time to get over the shakes and “bear fever”. Wait for a good shot and make it count.

I don’t get to go until mid September.

Good luck and post a story with some pics when you get back!

I would assume you are getting an outfitter – if so, the outfitter should do all the baiting work. I wouldn’t think you would need to take anything “extra”.

Judging bears is tough. What is your definition of a “shooter”?

Big bears will have “pumkin heads”… Big blocky heads that tend to form an equalateral triangle between the ears and the nose. the ears will look small on the head. If you see big ears, odds are it is a small bear. Belly sag, “short” legs, etc are other things to watch for.

    Good luck!

If it is your first hunt, any bear is a trophy!!!
