Bear tags are out!

After 7 long years, I finally drew my Wisconsin Bear kill tag!

I got my first tag in 2004, and took a young boar on my first sit. I used the shotgun that time. I wanted to be sure I filled my tag.

This time I’m using the bow. Gonna be a little more selective on who gets a Rage in the Cage, too!

September can’t get here soon enough!

It’s a good thing we have the WBHA to keep things in check! Another study is going to be done again this year. Us hound hunters will be and are the first ones to see a population decline. If anything the population numbers are a bit low, but we don’t need to tell the DNR that!!!

Whether their numbers are off or not, WI has some of the best bear hunting for size, quality, and numbers anywhere… At least with regards to bear hunting management, I think it is being handled very well in our state.

The other thing to be sure is where you are applying and how are the numbers of new bear hunters affecting your ability to draw a tag. It seems that more and more hunters are applying and that is probably skewing your ability to get drawn.

Were you applying for a “C” tag???
