Well here it is… the last day of the season for those not getting a bear so far and not choosing to hook up and run with the dogs. Its been an interesting season filled with big bear (3 700#+ bear in the state) and no bears for the last two weeks.
With the “Indian Summer” working for us this week, it seems to have perked the bears back up. The hound guys are excited about the prospects for the upcoming weekend, their last as season will close for them on Tuesday the 12th.
I had a friend of a friend who was able to get up last weekend and this weekend to sit. After not seeing a bear other than on the trail cam, while asleep under the porch at my friends house yesterday a.m., there was a black marauder on the porch causing havoc with friends FW’s bird feeding accessories. As he came up the stairs for a cup of coffee he was greeted by “All you had to do was be on the porch and you could have shot your bear!!!”
So it goes… time for dogs and ducks, grouse, woodcock & pheasants. And perhaps a little rut time deer hunting or maybe a chase of the fall turkey before the rifle season comes. Ah, fall… and then there’s ‘eyes and skies and deep crappies yet too!!! The quandry of the north!!!
