FINALLY FOUND ONE!

I finally had a bait hit. After baiting four different spots in Jackson County for 4 weeks with no success I decided last weekend to go as far north as Zone C would allow. I found a spot near Cameron and set up two bait sites. I returned on Tuesday and one of the baits was hit. I baited the site and threw up a camera. I returned today and the bait was cleaned up.

This is my first time both baiting and hunting bears so I need some help on a couple things. First how do I get him to hit the bait earlier. Second is how big is it. My guess would be pushing 300.

I am currently baiting 10 gallons twice a week. I think I will drop to 5 gallons on Monday Sept 6 and bait everyday. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Nice bear! I would guess 300ish as well, but I am far from a bear veteran….
As far as getting him to come in the light…no idea.
Less bait more frequently? Make it competitive?

I agree, less bait more often. bait only between 10 am and 2 pm. Give him a big variety to choose from. Good luck
