Congrats Chris on your 1st wild bear sighting. I recall my 1st bear sighting back when I was about 7. The it took me until I was 40 to have my next one…and that happened to be my daughters 1st sighting…she was in the deer stand with me. Now we have been seeing them regularly around the Chippewa Falls area.

Yes, congrats! Very cool. That should have been my first response, pardon my rudeness.

Are you in an area not normally known for bear, I take it?

Very cool, indeed. There are actually lots more bear around this area than people realize, which is fine with me (keeps the time to draw a tag at a minimum, hopefully. )

The trailcam photo of this pig was from my backyard last year, rural EC area.

Congrats Chris on your bear sighting! Saw a couple in northern WI crossing the road in front of me a few years ago. Then I spotted one in Buffalo County 3 years during the spring turkey hunting season. That was pretty cool because at that time there weren’t very many around in that area.

    Congrats!

Joel, would you please take Gut to Jonnny P’s or to the dump up North. The guy is 40 and still has not seen a wild bear?

Congrats Chris You never forget your first in the wild. I seen my first, in 1991…it was May and we were headed up HWY 47, 9 miles south of Isle. It crossed the road in front of us, we pulled over and actually snapped a few pics Pretty cool for sure

Should have said something I could have shown you a bear, all I had to do was leave the fish cleanings outside.

I did get to see a bear right off the bat this year. I was running minnow traps right after thaw and seen a moose . Later realizing it was a freakin huge bear a call went into the landowner trading first born child for hunting rights.

Chris – Most likely you’ll have a 5 year wait for zone C.

Whitt, what part of E.C. are you in? I grew up in E.C. and now live in Chippewa. That bear IS a pig indeed.

EC/Fall Creek area. Somewhere between Old Abe and the Crickets.

As long as we’re on old home week… Born in Chippewa Falls, lived in EC for first two years of life, then off to the Marshfield area, then finally to the Madison area; and have 7 aunts and uncles in the EC/Fall Creek area… One just west of the old Jimmy Woo’s, one in Fall Creek, one dairy farmer in Bracket… and four more…

Oh back to the bear, started working on baits Tuesday night, set the first one, but got to open the trail back to my second bait before I get it ready to set, but seeing some neat things hacked, yacked and [censored] back there!!!
