to be seeing bears out of the dens? I saw one last Friday along HWY 53 in Chippewa Falls and a coworker of mine saw one last Wednesday. Seems a little early but I could be wrong. Must be the warm weather getting them out!

I am not suprised by this at all. Some friends of mine that run coyote on the snow find bear tracks pretty often thoughout winter unless it is extremly cold. My buddy was combining his last bit of corn last week and they chased one out. He said it looked to be about 300-325 live weight now. He will be a dandy this fall. Too bad he is in a non dog unit or we would try to find him this fall.

We see them or tracks on the late ice of Upper Red Lake this time of the year every year, lots of goodies to chow on as the ice melts down.

Very cool Mike – congrats on your bear sighting!

I saw one the other morning too – right next to me in my bed.

Not as early to see a bear as it is green grass in March around here!! Just seeing brown grass is amazing, but green, WOW!!! Bears are out, but seem to still be hanging close to the dens.
