We have been organizing the bait at the bear center, an annual game of “What’s in that barrel?” As we sorted through all the various goodies I decided to mark them with an old can of burgundy spray paint we had sitting around. Well we marked C for cookie and P for peanut butter so on and so forth before getting all 15,000 lbs worth organized and stacked for the upcoming baiting season then we left for supper. Naturally I left the can of spray paint sitting on one of the barrels in the bear center, bad idea.
Sometime in the night a small boar decides he is going to bust in and get himself a snack only to find everything bear proof. In what I’m guessing was an act of defiance the young boar lashed out in an act of vandalism like a woodland gang member. We now have one burgundy wall, a burgundy sprayed ceiling, burgundy floor with little burgundy bear tracks leading away and a shredded and empty can of spray paint nearby.
My guess is reports of a burgundy faced bear should start coming in about the start of bear season. These bear never cease to amaze me with their antics…at least this one went around and didn’t go through the door like the last one did.
Between the raccoons and the bear it is becoming nightly attacks and covert missions to steal whatever they can get their paws on, time for the electric fence.
