Well…(tongue in cheek) to say the least our tag process is hard to figure. 1st timers sometimes draw 1st hunt tags and sometimes it takes 6 years to draw one
We have three seasons that start Sept 10…The 1st season does not allow hounds, so is the one all the baiters want…a crack at your Bear before he may be run out of the county.
Rather than risk that… I set stands where there are no roads for miles, like islands off the River. Dogs dont bother my stand and I have had 100% success for many years.
I drew a 2nd hunt tag using 3 preferance points( 3 unsuccessful years)…my buddy drew a 2nd hunt tag with no points…go figure?
None of my clients drew a tag this year so I will have time to do something I’ve wanted to for a time. A bear hunt tutorial. So follow along as the days draw near and I will pass on my progress (pictures) and some info that has worked for me for the past 25 years…and 14 personal bow kills on Black Bear. (there would be 25 if not for this dumb permit system )
