Well my early baiting was not the most successful event that I have ever had in the woods!!! Biggest problem was trying to decipher whether or not I had someone who was interested in hunting… Still really don’t know. Difficult to be excited about spending your own money with no one to follow it up.
The dog training season starts on July 1st and runs through August 31. Then the bears get to rest for a week before it is game on for real. This year the houndsmen get to go first and the bait guys have to wait for the following Wednesday.
With my brother up this weekend, there was some thought towards hooking up with friends of mine west of town to see if we might get in on a good chase. Fishing seemed to be a bigger priority and even though that was not the finest, I heard there were no bears treed from the crew I usually tag along with. Dogs out of shape and the bears in shape. I guess that is why there is a training season…
