After three days in Iron River and seeing 13 bears, finally decided on taking this 250 pound sow. Excellent learning experience! The best way to learn to judge a bear’s size is being able to see alot of bears. She went 35 yards after a well placed shot with the Encore Loader with 120 grains pushing a Harvester Hard Cast bullet.
Even saw my first two wolves in the wild.
Here’s out photos from our Manitoba hunt.
Taken at a distance of 8 feet-aggressive bear.
Eli’s first bear
No luck in Minnesota-corn hit the milk stage and there was no stopping the migration.
Bump for the 3 month Default!
Jus thought I would bring this back up top! Feel free to add your Bear harvest pics!
Just got the mount back from 2008 Manitoba kill. Estimated (from length/girth, etc) weight of 585-600 pounds. Old (20-25 years) dry sow. Skull went 18 0/8.
Very cool mount.
Thanks for sharing and Congrats on that Sow(pig) again!
WI 2010, 10 yard shot, 40 yard recovery. Mathews Z7, 27.5″, 72#, Easton FMJ, NAP Spitfire 100 grain, Spott Hogg 7 pin Hunter.
2010 Alberta Colored Bear. Distance was about 12 yards and recovery was about 3ft. The outfitter said that if a cinnamon comes into the bait I probably want to shoot him as he had a history of aggression and was pepper sprayed once during the spring hunts. The bear came in four times from four different directions before a large flock of canadian geese flew over as they were going to land in the beaver pond and gave me the distraction I needed to get the bow back. It was a super quiet evening and the bear spooked once from the sound of the arrow sliding on the whisker biscuit. I have to thank those geese for some background noise that night.
Saweeeet looking bear Mallard , My first bear was a color bear , they are so cool looking
