It’s this time of year that I’m usually deep in thought fishing the FLW Tour Championship. But with the year I had the only championship I could possibly be fishing would be the loser’s bracket of the FLW!! However, things have a way of working out.
I’ve been applying for 9 years to Wisconsin’s Black Bear season in Area B. It generally takes 9-10 preference points to get a tag. I was fortunate enough to draw a tag this year, and I managed to put it to good use.
This bear was the first one I saw during my hunt. I’ve been spending alot of my time in Madison at the hospital visiting my father, so I had a limited amount of time to get a bear. The one is the photo weighed in at 220 lbs. It was a boar and his coat will make a great rug.
One more thing: there have been many discussions on the pluses/minuses of Rage broadheads. I should have taken a picture to show here, but this bear went about 50 yards before he piled up. The entry hole from the 2 bladed Rage is about 6 inches in length and 2 inches wide. Ray Charles could have follwed this blood trail…..unreal damage by this broadhead!!
