Any good tips from you guys on how to take quality pictures after a deer is stiff and been hanging for the night? Much appreciated.

Appropriate back ground, clean the blood off, bend the neck a little, fill flash, fill the frame, and take a perspective that is slightly lower than the deer’s eyes so your aiming slightly upward.

and there is an example of what NOT to do

What randy said ^ Not a fan of back of the truck pictures. Try to get a shot in the field, fill the frame with a good ratio of you and the deer as well as the back ground. a slightly upward angle will definitely help make the deer appear larger. How you hold the rack can make a difference and where your body is relative to the deer, don’t grab both hands on the beams, sometimes if you can hold them by the neck or low on the bases can help make the shot better. I have some friends that take excellent pictures, if they shoot a buck at night they will take the time to get really good pictures the next day, it definitely makes the hunt more memorable and you owe it to the deer to represent it well.

As it turns out, Ben Brettingen wrote a Deer Photography 101 article for this month’s magazine. You might want to check that out for some ideas in addition to those that have already been shared.
