I’m heading up to Bayfield with the FW and kid this weekend and I’m going to try and sneak a fishing rod or two up with me in case I find some down time. I’m wondering if there’s much shore fishing opportunities up there on the lake and if so if the trout are shallow enough this time of year to cast to them. Or any other species for that matter. Thanks for the help.

I cant direct you to specific areas because I dont fish that area but with all the rain the tributaries should be a great place to shore fish. Call Anglers All in Ashland and ask them for Bayfield information.

Nice! We are staying at the Seagull Bay Motel. If I’m remembering what she told me, one of her friends bought it so we are going to check it out.

Cool we are staying at the rittenhouse inn. Maybe we will run into each other. If you see a guy fishing and an annoyed looking wife tugging on his arm that’s me!

If I didn’t know any better I’d think my wife was cheating on me, but at this point I’m not sure she’d date another fisherman……
September 18, 2019 at 8:53 am #1879729Take some waders and a few little cleos, gold and orange is best, rainbow pattern also good, wade the mouths of the Onion and Souix Rivers and wade out into the lake and cast in front of the river mouths at sun up. Cohos and browns are entering the rivers now, especially after rain..I used to drag the boat up this time of year and now only fish mostly this way..some trips never took the boat off the trailer. if they are there you will see coho working the surface. couple hours in the morning to fish and you will be back before the wife wakes up.
September 18, 2019 at 9:42 am #1879738I went up mid october last year and booked a charter. Great experience. We went out of red cliff. Cost was cheap for a great lakes salmon/trout charter (1/2 day $325 I believe). Caught lots of browns, splake, and steelhead. A few of the browns were around 10lbs which is nice size for lake superior standards. I’d totally recommend this charter:
