Can I use my portable battery charger to run the depth finder? I am thinking of using it like a power inverter. Just to play with it on the work bench. Do I put the setting in 2amp 10 amp or boost.? Thanks and Happy New Year

I wouldnt, why?? a battery charger has a lot of “electrical noise” that the depth finder probably cant handle without interference and other possible problems, its not worth the chance in my opinion.
it would not cause problems if you had the charger hooked to a battery while playing with it as the battery will act as a filter of sorts, hope that makes sense.

I am assuming you dont have a battery yet??? or is the battery in a boat in storage?? if you have an atv, mower,or any other thing with a battery of correct voltage in it in the garage, hook it up to that instead of the charger.
    have fun!!

Battery chargers are for charging batteries, batteries are for powering the equipment. Just a pet peeve of mine, use the right tool for the job at hand

Iowa boy I just got a new finder GPS and all I wanted to do is check out the GPS. Yep the battery is in storage. Maybe I will go find the proper tool (inverter) at the car parts store. Thanks

How about pulling the car in the garage and attaching it to the car battery?

Connect it to your car battery

You just need a battery. An inverter changes DC current from a battery to AC current and that’s not what you want. You need DC current to power depth finder.
