I am going to order a Ranger 1850 Reata this week. Looking at electronics I am between the 999CI HD SI Combo and the 899CI HD SI Nav combo. I mainly fish smallies on rivers and pan fish. Suggestions?

I have 998’s and think I could have been just as happy with 898’s… don’t think the extra inch makes that much a difference personally… if you can put the extra money into something else worthwhile.

Just curious, why the Reata for fishing smallies in rivers?

Need to keep Mom and the kids happy too. Plenty of recreation too.

What dealer you going with? And what kind of motor they putting on the back of that 1850 for ya?

No comment on electronics as I have none, but congrats on the boat! Those Reattas seem to be something special. Got my eyes on the 190 for next year.

    The 999ci HD SI Combo comes with the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T (Hi-Def SideScan xducer) … 200kHz/83kHz 2d and 455kHz/800kHz SI/DI…

    The 899ci HD SI Combo comes with the XNT 9 SI 180 T (Compact SI xducer)…200kHz/83kHz 2d and 455kHz SI/DI …

HB has a transducer trade in program to upgrade the XNT 9 SI 180 T to the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T …which will give the 899 the same frequency options as the 999ci HD SI Combo …

Not only will the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T allow the added 800kHz frequency …the SI DI images will be somewhat crisper simply because of the longer SI piezo elements in the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T (longer piezo = thinner SI beam = more detail) …

We ended up ordering the boat from Al’s Specialties in Rochester and went with Helix 10 HD SI’s with I-link. Can’t wait for spring!
