Rumor Mill

I heard a couple things this weekend that may or may not be true.

First thing was the West Salem Bassmasters won’t be having their Spring Fling tourney and may be on the verge of disbanding.

Secondly, the La Crosse airport has obtained rights to fill in the backwater bay by Nelson park in order to build a new runway. I would definitely be against this, as it’s a great place to fish for panfish & bass.

If there’s anyone out there that can squash these rumors please feel free to do so.

Well I have my Spring Fling Application In front of me…..Just called and talked to John Schmdits wife, She said she didn’t know of any reason why it would be cancelled….So i think i’m gonna that one..

As for filling that bay in, I AM ALSO AGAINST IT. Growing up on French Island, I’ve fished that bay for over 15 years…I will help anyway to stop that from happening.

Thanks Slop – I will have to stop by a bait shop on the way home tonight and check that out. 100 a boat isn’t bad.

Ok, boat’s on order. Spring Fling? Tell me about this (dates) as I’m in the Milwaukee area, and I don’t think I’ll be getting to any of bait shops by pools 7,8 or 9.

    JC & Fleck?

    Shaver… Need a partner?

    Anyone need a partner?

    Thanks ,

Blue, where did you hear about the airport thing?

You are talking about the bay on the North end, by the sailboat club?

I just talked to a buddy of mine who is a member of the LaCrosse Sailboat club and is on the Town of Cambell First responders.

He was shocked at the near thought of this and hasn’t heard anything….He’s going to see what info he can dig up on this and get back to me. I’ll let ya know what we find.

Hmmm… I am always against destruction of natural water basins or wetlands – these are key to water shed management (my wife’s a landscape architect who as studied this… oh, and she hugs trees on the weekends…)

It would be very sad to see it go, but with the legislation that was passed, if they obtained permits prior to the national wetlands act (cannot remember the real name), not sure we could do anything about it… chaulk it up to progress.

As for that bay, there are no bass in there…
