I checked the lake conditions and at 9:00am the lake was 70% open. As of noon there was only a small patch left. My best guess is that it will be fully thawed by days end…
Now if we can get a couple nice days I will be able to break the winter blues.

This is the name my 3year old son gave to Pleasant Creek lake located 5 miles north of Palo / 12 miles west of Cedar Rapids.

Funny how kids do that- I have an almost 4 yo boy with a very vivid imagination/sense of humor combo. Did he see a musky and think it was a crock? or just one of the laydowns? Great story, and I love that you posted that name- had me thinking of some new, unknown bass hole nearby. Too bad tomorrow is gonna be very cold and very, very windy- not too long though

Thanks for the reply. I’ve been there a few times. Nice lake, great access. DNR has done a nice job with that one. Wish they’d do something like that around DBQ!

Tightlines, they are in the final planning process (for the last 10 years lol) of building a new lake in north scott county- Lost Grove Lake, but it might not be much closer than Pleasant creek for you. It is supposed to have the water clarity of PC, and from what i hear the same regs re motors (no wake). We Eastern Iowa anglers are certainly in need of more options for those years when the old man gets out of his banks.

We were on the Croc hole Saturday afternoon. The warmest water we found was 39.5. The shad were in the backs of the creeks. There was some real muddy water coming in those creeks. We had one shad that ran in the hooks on a 9″ Suick.
