Me too.
Sounds like there may be a “north” team and a “south” team as well!!
March 3, 2004 at 5:01 am #295049What pool will be the cut off for the northern boys vs the southern boy???…..Sounds like the civil war……The North Vs the South………haha
March 3, 2004 at 3:25 pm #295104good news! other than hammering out a few minor detail it sounds like the bass wranglers are in. the club would has invitied james and tuck to our next meeting for a little question and answer session. the clubs main concern was making sure we were going to have enough bodies to make the tourneys go smoothly but other than those few questions for james i think we are in business. we have a permit in hand already for a pool 3 and st.croix tourney for rivertown days and would like to bring IDA in for that tourney. then we would have to figure out the other three but it looks like it could work. man does this get the blood pumping for spring or what!!!
thank you for your time
coreyMarch 4, 2004 at 9:00 pm #295296im thinking the bottom of pool 5 would be far enough. us northern folk can probably give a whippin on those three poolsbut im a little scared if i get much farther south. im thinkin them southern folk probly gonna send me home with my tail tween my legs.
WadsworthPosts: 255March 4, 2004 at 11:55 pm #295363It sounds great, as far as pool 6, the St. Charles Street landing in Winona is a great landing with lots of parking, and it’s free.
March 5, 2004 at 12:26 am #295369with the recent cancellaton of the pro am the competition could get a little stiffer for the smaller tourneys. if we can get the i.d.a. off the ground we should be able to fill it up for sure now.
March 5, 2004 at 1:25 am #295343why are you limiting this to the northern pools why not hit pools like 17 18 and 19
this is a indepth angling tournomentisnt it not lts fish in my back yard and not go no where
March 5, 2004 at 2:46 pm #295414Dusty as a past Tournament Director there is a whole lot more that goes into it than just picking dates and going for it. The fact that they got a walleye circuit together and are looking like they will put some bass events together too is more amazing than one might think in such a short time. Having said that I too want to see both the Walleye and the Bass spread up and down the river. I like to joke about being two for two in the tourneys I plan to fish, but the bottom line is nonlocals,(including myself), more often than not are just contributing to the purse, so I can see your point.
I hope this doesn’t offend anyone but trust me Rusty with the Wills and Egos involved in this thing if they can completely replace PWT,RCL,BASS,FLW down the road 10 years profitably they would; and that’s not a bad thing.
March 5, 2004 at 5:10 pm #295313Count me in!!!!!
Can a guy fish from a walleye boat? Or will I have to hide my face with shame??? Maybe the rod holders may come in handy when deadsticking tube baits???
Any hoo! Sounds like fun!
March 5, 2004 at 5:41 pm #295315I plan on fishing them all with my girlfriend, from a walleye boat, with a kicker motor. Oh yeah… dual baitwells.
So the answer would be… yes! lol
March 5, 2004 at 6:16 pm #295460You mean fishing with my girlfriend? I don’t think that would be cheating. Actually, let’s just say I’m fond of her for many reasons, her fishing abilities are not one of those things… lol Actually, I’m thinking about a 0.5 lb handicap for anyone fishing with their “significant other.” Just kidding, of course.
She’s always wanted to fish a tournament or two with me and I figure this is her chance to get her feet wet and see what all the fuss is about. I’m looking forward to beating quite a few of the bass guys while fishing with my gal too. And of course, if we don’t, well, I’ll have the perfect excuse already to go… lol
March 5, 2004 at 6:21 pm #295461I think he was refering to the dual baitwells. Most tourneys don’t allow live bait.
What’s the limit for these tourneys? Most tourneys are going to the 6 fish limit as a legal loop hole in the cull issue.
March 5, 2004 at 6:41 pm #295463I don’t mean to be the one to rain on everybodies parade with this idea, but isn’t there too many trails as it is anyways. These fish will never recieve any time where somebody isn’t fishing for them! I love to fish tourneys, I fish the BFL right now, but too much is too much! Pressured fish are no fun to fish for and when you have a trail on the river, on the same pools every other day these fish are going to get finicky and make these tournaments less fun. Look at Prior lake, MN. They have about 2 tourneys there a week. The fishign is good for those who can get on one of the six spots that are holding fish, but the rest of the guys have to continuely beat the snot out of all the spots just to pick up a few fish. I guess all I am saying is to maybe limit how often you guys hold these tournaments. Trying to squeeze them in the only weekend another trail isn’t beating up the same water doesn’t sound like a plan to me.
EAT SLEEP FISH
( Those who work have missed their true calling)March 5, 2004 at 7:35 pm #295469Well James. All I can say is that Tom and I will show up to collect some of your hard earned money so you might want to start budgeting for your whippin’
jcMarch 5, 2004 at 8:11 pm #295474well skeets i for one disagree with you. the ole miss is alot bigger than prior lake. i feel that the fishing has only gotten better in the past few years there are many places that you can go fish and not see another boat during a tourney. there are way more than a few select spots to catch fish. and i feel that if we are going to spread the dates and locations out we wont be putting alot of pressure on one area. you could add up most of the water in all of the lakes in this state and ol miss would still hold her own in total surface area. thats one guys opinion.
March 5, 2004 at 8:58 pm #295476Well of course USING livebait is illegal in a bass tourney… I’ll just have to use those baitwells to keep the pop cold but I can’t do anything about them actually being in the boat ya’ know!

March 5, 2004 at 9:06 pm #295477I actually look forward to being a donator. I am very excited about the opportunity to get out and fish in a competitive situation with my gal even if it does mean we’ll likely finish behind most of the experienced bass sticks.

March 5, 2004 at 9:42 pm #295405Even at worse case I think it will be much more fun that sitting here waiting fore the ice to melt. Jimmy, with all the money I will be donating you won’t need that guide service to make a living… Oh wait, I almost forgot. We have a blue fleck trump card this year… Life is grand.

March 5, 2004 at 9:43 pm #295481Champman,
If you are going after some of JC’s money then count me in. I hear he has bushels of it!March 5, 2004 at 9:48 pm #295482Sheeeite, You biologists have all the big bucks. I make an honest 11.50 an hour scooping elephant crap for the circus and have a couple side jobs delivering pizza and picking up cans in Iowa. Maybe if I can get a job at Trane like half the guys here I will have some spending money. Actually I would be fairly well off if I lived in a van down by the River.
JcMarch 5, 2004 at 9:53 pm #295484Not a bad plan with the van down at the boat landing!! No more property taxes, mortgage payments, etc. Why didn’t I think of that sooner!! Any openings at the circus? The one I work for here is getting on my nerves something fierce.
March 5, 2004 at 10:01 pm #295487I think the .5# or more handicap for fishing with your significant other is a great idea ..by the way Jeremy, Blue Fleck even if he wears a dress doesn’t qualify for the S.O. handicap. I hope the dates get announced
soon, with all these high rollers coming to this tourney , Nancy and I might have to reconsider BWS or IDA. I just committed to all 4 RCLs and got confirmation today for all of the Great Lake BFls so dates might be slim.
To maybe relax those who might be worried about overfishing, we already have three nights of leagues and at least one tourney a weekend down here and I don’t see much change in my daily catches.March 5, 2004 at 10:12 pm #295489Hey Champman,
I know you probly wana fish with your woman and I would like the scenery better if I fish with mine, but once you said somthing about taking crawford’s money Im all ears! Between you and I we ought to have all these pools covered. We may even have to put his name on the side of the champ cause he will be throwin so much cash our way!
Wallerbass : Nice post, you took the words out of my mouth!

March 5, 2004 at 10:56 pm #295494Count me in for as many dates as I am open for!!! Sounds like fun!!
March 6, 2004 at 1:52 am #295142Anyone thought about making this Tourney one that might keep us in the good graces of our ladies? I mean, bring our ladies fishing once and show them what we do all day on the water… What about a tourney that was a In-depth member and the back-boater was our wives (or significant other) telling us what to do all day?
Call it the original name: Bass-n-Gals…
Hmmm… Blue Fleck and Crawford in a dress woudln’t qualify…
(Sorry, Crawford, I don’t know you well enough to say that, do I?)
Or, does this scenario just cause a lot of heart burn?
