Man, the February blahs are getting to me. Just asking this question out of curiosity.

Which pool, overall, do you like bassin the most on? Could be for size, number, aesthetics, whatever. Given a choice, which pool do you most like to fish?

I have fished 5-10, and for me it is Pool 5a.

Call me biased , but Pool 7 gets it done for me….Maybe because i know it well , but you can fish the main river , the lake , or any one of many backwaters that are on 7 …not only for bass…but multi-species as well.

As far as Bassin’ goes, it also provides several different methods of fishing, topwater, structure, current, points, fallen timber, and most important of all—> SLOP!!

I HAVE EMOTIONAL TIES TO POOL 10. I LOVE THAT PLACE, PLUS THE NUMBERS CAN BE OUTSTANDING. I ALSO FISHED POOL 4 IN A TOURNAMENT LATE LAST YEAR AND I WAS AMAZED. WHAT A GREAT PLACE TO BASS FISH. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT IT IS A FOUR HOUR TRIP FOR ME TO GET TO ALMA.

I love pool 8 just cause I know it and it’s five minutes from my house but I enjoy fishing any different body of water that I’ve never fished. It seems like more of an acomplishment when you catch good fish.

I’d have to say Pool 10 because I know it the best. Pool 10 is never short on quantities of fish, however, pool 9, at least with my experience, seems to hold larger fish on the average.

I really like pool 8, but the boat traffic is sometimes too busy for me..

Haven’t been that far North yet so for me it is 12 or 13 but when it comes down to it I’ll take any pool on the river. What a great place to fish.

Yes, the winter blues getting you guys as well I see?
My favorite river bassin waters? I would have to say the upper Mississippi river north of St.Cloud for numbers of above average fish! To be more specific, St.Cloud- Brainerd, Mn This entire strecth of river offers a little of everything. Some pools are only deep enough to float a canoe down while the others are 25 foot deep on the average and perfect for the bigger boats…..and under fished! SHHHHHH…
Each pool from dam to dam is right around 20+ miles long on the average.

MossBoss…thanks for making me think about this…you are making me woozy!

Aesthetically… Pool 5a, 7, and 9 seem to offer the most “backwater” to escape all traffic. 8 to some degree.

Numbers of fish… Pool 11 (Wyalusing where the WI flows into the Miss) is spectacular and BEAUTIFUL!

    Size of fish… Pool 9.

Best memories… Pool 11 in my dad’s 1982 Cigarette Style Ranger with an orange 75HP Johnson Stinger… Those were the days…

Is it me, or is it when you think of the past, the fish are always BIGGER and MORE PLENTIFUL!?!?

Mine would be pool 10, just because i know more areas/spots and navigation tricks on that one. I do very well for numbers on that one, but have never been north of there- some of those sound excellent from posts on here and id like to give 7-8-9 a try sometime as well.

What about camping on pools 7, 8, and 9? I like to park my motorhome and have my boat at a dock not far away. I usualy go on 3 or 4 day trips during the week as I don’t like crowds. I like pool five and have camped for a few years at Great River Harbor. This June I have reserved 4 days at Everts on Pool 4.

pools 18 i know it the best catch lots of fish there in rescent years(making a come back)
pool 13 usually do really well there

and pool 10 although i only get there once a year it puts out numbers (i dont catch big ones) nothing like pulling onto a wing dam and catching a fish every cast

From Pool 4 to Pool 10, it doesn’t matter, for me. When
I get a chance to fish any of these, my face hurts from
    grinning…Even when I have to push some guy’s TR20
off the sand and rocks, on Pool 9.

For me it has to be P.4 with Red Wig area,Lake Pepin and Wabasha area. The qualty largemouth is what I love,it seems alot of bass anglers concentrate on smallmouths in P.4 on Pepin
