Well spring break is here and I’ve been hitting the water hard. Pool 7 has been the target and we’ve worked the lower half over pretty darn good. The trap bite on the main lake was awesome last Monday, but the winds of the middle of the week messed things up out there. Alex Welter and I shared the boat on Friday and found the perfect conditions for an off the charts bite. The wind was whippin’ but certain areas of the main lake were protected enough to entice 3 lbers into hitting our baits. Outside of the 10 keepers or so that we caught trappin’, we probably caught an additional 40 keepers on swim jigs and flipping jigs in a different area. By the end of the day, Alex and I were practically bleeding from intense bass thumb. Both numbers and size were caught. Alex came in as the 3 lber champion, catching by far the most 3 lbers of the day. I caught 2 4 lbers however that really helped my best 5 get to the 17 to 17-1/2 lb range. Still, Alex’s was definitely close to 16 lbs. We weren’t keeping real close track, but it was a great day for both ends of the boat. Justin and I also got out yesterday and did alright. I had 15-1/2 lbs but the cooler temperatures and increased fishing pressure made keeper bites just a little harder to come by. All in all its been a great week. Here are a few pictures from the last few days.

Some average keepers from the other day.
